1. Delivery Approach

For the duration of sprints one to four, the DCI team aligned to the Scrum framework. The sprint duration was two weeks and the sprint ceremonies were scheduled in line with the two-week cycle.

Ways of working

The SSE Ways of Working PDF (SSE Ways of Working) contains details of how the teams functioned:

  • The team’s structure - the core scrum team, the wider scrum team and informed observers
  • A top-level RACI
  • A brief introduction into Scrum and its ceremonies – adapted to fit SSE
  • The team’s ways of working, recurring meetings and communication plan
  • An overview of the tools used
  • The team’s principles

Reporting Documentation

Two key reporting documents were created during the sprints:

  • Weekly Report – At the start of each sprint and mid-sprint, a summary report would be circulated to key stakeholders. The report contains key information of the team’s progress – a summary, highlights, lowlights, risks and issues. Example weekly report.
  • Show and Tell Presentation - Following the Show and Tell ceremony, the presentation deck would be circulated to the stakeholders so that they could review the outputs in more detail. Example show and tell report 1.Example show and tell report 2
